Skull & Bones Game

We’ve been waiting for Ubisoft to drop Skull & Bones for a good while now. The video game has been delayed for a couple of years now, but there is a push to get it out in 2020. If you’re unfamiliar with the game, Skull & Bones is an upcoming open-world naval warfare game. Players take on the role of a pirate captain who sets off into the open seas in search of treasure and loots to steal. From the footage shown so far, Ubisoft is opting to give players a strategic game as well as not only will you have to deal with other pirates but government ships.

One of the examples Ubisoft has shown when it comes to Skull & Bones is that players can attempt to fool an opposing ship by raising their flags. Likewise, you’ll have to make note of the landmasses as you can make use of cover from land or attempt to cut off an enemy around an island.



Even though publisher/developer Ubisoft will be releasing five AAA games by March 2021, we now know not to expect Splinter Cell, Beyond Good and Evil 2, or Skull & Bones by then, the latter of which was apparently rebooted multiple times, as noted by Kotaku’s Jason Schreier.


Skull & Bones was initially revealed at E3 2017 and has since suffered from many delays. It was initially supposed to launch in the fall of 2018, but was pushed back to 2019, and then again pushed to sometime in 2020. Though, after Ubisoft unveiled its upcoming AAA release schedule for the next year, the pirate adventure game was nowhere to be found. In addition to the game’s reboots, Schreier also noted that its creative director left the project in 2018, leading to more turmoil in its development. Our own E3 2018 preview of the game noted that, while it had potential, it seemed to be missing a lot as it focused solely on pirate ship battles and didn’t explore anything else.

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

The wait is finally over in 2020 as we’re finally getting a sequel to the much-beloved medieval RPG Mount & Blade: Warband. This particular title takes place a couple of hundred years before the events of the first installment. Outside of the multiplayer combat where you can embark on sieges and skirmishes, players will find that there is a campaign mode attached as well. Within this mode, you’ll be able to explore the open world, seek out the different towns, aid NPCs, rob thieves or innocents, and partake in massive battles either by yourself or by gaining a group of troops who may be willing to lend their sword for a bit of gold.
